Considered
one of the most talented and exiting italian pianists of his generation,
CRISTIANO BURATO was born in 1968 and achieved a first-class honours
diploma at the Mantua Conservatoire with Rinaldo Rossi. He continued
his artistic perfectioning along with Sergio Perticaroli at the "S.Cecilia"
Academy in Rome graduating with first-class honours.
He is prize-winner in several national and international piano competitions,
among which the "Porrino" of Cagliari, the "Jaen Prize"
of Jaen (Spain), the "Sydney International Piano Competition",
the "Tomassoni Int. Piano Comp." of Cologne, the "World
Piano Competition of London" and the "Leeds Int. Piano Comp."
In 1996 he won the Grand Prix on the prestigious "Dino Ciani International
Piano Competition" at the "La Scala Theatre" in Milan,
getting the unanimous vote of the international Jury headed by Riccardo
Muti, definitively establishing himself on the international scene.
He played with prestigious orchestras among which the Orchestra Filarmonica
della Scala, the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI, the Sydney Philarmonic
Orchestra, the London Philarmonia Orchestra, the Wiener Kammerorchester,
and so on. His solo recitals have been acclaimed at the "La Scala
Theatre" in Milan, at the Stresa's "Settimane Musicali",
for the "Società del Quartetto" and the "Società
dei Concerti" of Milan, at the "Accademia Chigiana" of
Siena, at the "Accademia Filarmonica" of Bologna, and at the
major italian concerts societies and theatres. He has been also invited
to the "Festival Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo", at
the "Accademia di S.Cecilia" and the "Accademia Filarmonica
Romana" of Rome.
He collaborated with important conductors such as Simon Rattle, Allun
Francis, Frank Shipway, Cristian Maendel, Leonard Griffith, Marcello
Viotti, Donato Renzetti, Mario Bellugi and Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli.
Since he was 14 he gave many concerts and went on tours abroad to Germany,
Austria, Switzerland, France, England, Spain, Greece, Rumania, Poland,
United States, Canada and Australia, performing at the "Sydney
Opera House", at the "Tonhalle" in Zurich, at the "Wigmore
Hall" and the "Royal Festival Hall" in London, at the
"Konzertsaal" in Vienna, for "Radio France" and
the UNESCO Auditorium in Paris, at the "Los Angeles County Museum
of Art" and at the Auditorium of the United Nations in New York,
at the "Queen's Hall" in Edimbourg and so on. His interpration
of Chopin excited very great acclaim everywhere. After the awards from
International Juries in Sydney, Cologne and London he was invited to
give lots of Chopin's recitals: at the Chopin Festival in Duszniki (Poland),
at the Townhall of Paris for the 150th death anniversary, for the Chopin
Society of London, and so on.
He gave a lecture on "The Rubato Style in the Piano Music of Chopin"
for the "California Association of Professional Music Teachers"
in San Diego and several Master Classes in Italy and abroad.
He recorded for Phoenix Classic, recently the Chopin's Concerts with
the Transilvanian State Orchestra.
For artistic merits he has been awarded the Medal of the President of
the Italian Republic.
